About a year ago I did something I rarely do, I bought a bottle of perfume unsniffed. It was an impulse purchase after reading an enticing review and because I was in need of some extra comfort (I was recovering from surgery) I was particularly vulnerable. I most certainly am not advocating buying bottles of perfume before you try them, but in this case, it worked out very well.
At the time, Dimanche by Strange Invisible Perfumes was limited edition and only available as a pure perfume. Happily, I am able to report that Dimanche is available once again, albeit for a limited time, in both perfume and EDP concentrations. Because I fell so hard for Dimanche in its parfum form, I was quite eager to test it as an EDP. Side by side, the two are nearly indistinguishable and have the same moderate sillage and last upwards of six hours.
Dimanche is as equally intriguing as it is gorgeous and each time I wear it, the sumptuousness and elegance of its unabashedly iris opening validate my retail therapy. When I was first getting to know Dimanche, I found its iris beginning a bit bracing whereas now it feels familiar and its powdery nature becomes apparent more quickly. Β Once the iris settles into Dimanche’s heart of rose and honey, the floral powderiness emerges completely and beautifully.
Within that floral heart, there’s room for a fistful of honeyed hay, some cocoa and a hint of amber that foreshadows the drydown. If you’re a fan of hay, I can’t recommend Dimanche enough. Its sundried grassiness is the perfect counterpoint to the loftiness of iris. It grounds it, and also makes it wearable throughout the seasons. As you can tell, I am still in love with Dimanche and I’m glad the rest of you have a chance to give it a whirl.
Dimanche is available only at the Strange Invisible Boutique in Venice, Ca. They are happy to send samples $8 for the EDP, $10 for the pure perfume. A 50ml bottle of Dimanche EDP is $270. SIP perfumes are 100% natural (meaning all ingredients are found in nature) and I encourage you to read more about the company’s sustainability practices here. The boutique’s phone number is: 310.314.1505

Trish, you temptress, you! I love hay in perfume. I may have to find some to sample. I’m glad your unsniffed purchase worked out so well for you. It sounds like an unlikely combo, but sometimes those are the best.
The hay in Dimanche is heavenly! Treat yourself to sample, but be ready to fall in love π
I have to visit their boutique it is pretty close to where I live.
How lucky you are to be so close to SIP! Definitely go give it a try! π
I am very keen to try this- SIP is such a creative line and Dimanche is a beautiful name for a perfume- Sundays are probably my favourite day (although I’m also very fond of Fridays).
Rose, I loved your recent reviews of SIP! If you do another round of their samples, be sure to add this one, like Serendipity, it’s a very unique take on rose.

Awesome review. It’s making me want to try it unsniffed .
Well, it worked out for me π

Thank you for writing about another exquisite SIP creation. Although I am still loving my gift of Persica, I know there is so much more to try (and love) in this line. The iris, rose, honey, and hay notes here sound beautiful. Will definitely sample soon.
You are so welcome! Nice that you have a bottle of Persica, but there’s always room for more right? π

Trish, I too love hay. This one sounds really magical. I didn’t know they had a sample program, very good to know! Such a blessing you really hit it off with this impulse buy, something you can use for a long time to come and really get a lot of comfort from. And beauty, which is the main comfort.
You hit it Lucy, it is magical. There is something really incredible about this blend, and you must let me know if you try it!

For whatever strange reason in the last couple of weeks I find myself vulnerable to good reviews so I’m using all my will power not to run immediately and buy everything I read about. But it’s hard. And I’m so weak… How much did you say it costs?.. π
I know, I know! It is hard to resist….but start with the sample first!

I recently bought a bottle unsniffed, also a hay scent. I don’t know what came over me, but I was suddenly compelled to have L’Artisan’s Fleur de Narcisse. Thankfully, I adore it, which I cannot say for 99% of what I sniff. I’ll have to try Dimanche – you make it sound lovely. But I won’t push my luck; I’ll go for the sample first this time!
I think a sample’s a great idea! Even though it worked out for me, I don’t recommend buying such a pricey bottle without trying it first! π
I do think you’ll love it though since you’re a hay fan.
Another hay fan here! Thanks for enticing me with this review. Definitely now on my sample list. I have several favorites from SIP, but have yet to commit to a full bottle. This could be the one!
Hi Linda,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting! You’ll have to let me know if you give Dimanche a try and what your thoughts are.

I did order a sample, and it’s a beautiful scent. Not quite like anything else in my collection; it’s crisper than most, and very elegant. Still trying it on my skin to confirm the chemistry, but it is very wearable so far. And, I totally sampled it because of your review here! π
I’m so glad you have been enjoying Dimanche so far. It really is unique isn’t it?
My mom just bought this for me and it is one of my absolute favorite perfumes! I only recently discovered Strange Invisible, but I have never smelled such lovely perfumes. I am also happy to say that SI perfumes don’t smell cheap at all. This should be obvious, as they are not cheap, but I have been disappointed time and time again by perfumes that smell nice in the store and then quickly lose their appeal.
So sorry for the delay in posting this comment! I am thrilled you have discovered SIP and Dimanche in particular. It really is a unique and special perfume.
Great job on your blog BTW! I enjoyed perusing π

~~HOW does one who has the “nose” of a most gifted “hound dog” become a “nose” for a perfume house?
What a wonderful review! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with SIP. After reading the above a while ago I ordered a round of samples from SIP (which is not cheap in itself I might add as I’m ordering from the UK) but was sad to discover that Dimanche is no longer available. Now, after falling head over heals in love with this brand and purchasing a bottle of Fair Verona and Persica, I have discovered that Dimanche is going to be reintroduced! Not only that but I received a sample of it with my latest purchase and am in heaven! I would buy a bottle this instant if the postage wasn’t so expensive.
I have also discovered from a lovely and very helpful lady at SIP that they are doing a complete reshuffle with the collection and will be introducing a whole lot of new fragrances, the down side however is that 12 of they’re current collection are going to be no longer available except for the occasional limited edition release. But the good news is Dimanche is back as of September this year!
I’m situated in the north of England and have recently bought a shop, I am considering looking into stocking SIP perfumes but am a little unsure about whether they would sell. If any of you lovely blog readers have any advice I’d love to hear it. You see I’m a perfume obsessive and would see nothing wrong with spending so much money on these fantastic perfumes but I’m not sure other would. And if any of you are from the UK too and would appreciate somewhere you could buy these gorgeous perfumes online or in store in the UK please leave a reply.
Thank you Trish for introducing me to SIP!
